About
A bit about me:
My name is Jerry Bonanno. Basically, I’m just a fan of MMA and (more generally) what have come to be known as the “combat sports.” My interest in the “combat sports” originated in the high school wrestling room at one of the toughest wrestling-high schools in New Jersey (High Point Regional). The program at High Point consistently turned out great fighters (and even a few great technical wrestlers). My original post under this page left this piece of information out, and I’m indebted to a great wrestler who also came through High Point for reminding me not to “minimize the countless and tortuous hours” I spent in the wrestling room. Thanks Ed. I also played football from about the time I was 7 through High School, which was a great experience , but what I would consider a “contact” rather than a “combat” sport. After High School my road lead away from the wrestling room, but I’ve always had an interest in the combat sports and I’ve dabbled in various martial arts since then.
On the professional front, I’m an attorney (practicing in an area completely unrelated to sports law), but I also spent about 6-years working in hazardous materials management and environmental compliance prior to earning my law degree. In addition to my law degree (Seton Hall University School of Law; magna cum laude, Order of the Coif), I’ve also earned a bachelor of science in Environmental Sciences (Rutgers University) and a Master of Public Health (University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ/Rutgers University). A life-long resident of New Jersey, I moved to Maryland about 4-years ago where I currently live with my wife Hope and daughter Ava.
